In front of a crowd of about 60 Farnborough Falcons returned to action with a comprehensive 42-4 win over the Hainault Bulldogs development team. Hainault won the London League last year and their first team now plays in the Rugby League Conference so the game was always going to be a reasonable challenge. The conditions for the match were deceptive as although it was sunny there was a strong wind blowing from the clubhouse end of the ground. This wind caused the first error of the game when the Falcons were unable to take the initial kick off. Hainault were on the attack from the start and only strong Farnborough defense kept them out, the first ten minutes of the game were even as both teams tried to gain dominance. Ultimately Farnborough started to dominate with strong runs from their forwards and clever play from Pete Moore at number 7. A couple of quick tries gave Farnborough some breathing space and by half time they had built a commanding 24-4 lead. During half-time Falcons fans were concerned that playing against the wind they might not have things all their own way, and so it proved for about the first ten minutes of the half when again Hainault had plenty of possession and Farnborough had to be organised in defense. Strong forward play especially by Nick Carroll started to give Farnborough the upper hand and their play led to another four tries in the second half. Well worked tries were scored by Nick Carroll, Pete Moore and Jack Austin who generally had a good game on the left wing and will get even better with more games. This left the final score at Farnborough Falcons 42 Hainault Bulldogs 4.
